We came back to work after the Chinese New Year holidays on 6 February. That was also the day we conducted a full day business strategy and marketing workshop for a client and his team who came all the way from Kedah.

So it was no wonder that we actually worked during Chinese New Year despite the fact that we were supposed to be on a break.
But then again, given that we enjoy training business owners and their employees about specific ways to think about marketing, it’s really a lot of fun.

That was why we were at Eastin Hotel two weeks ago where Nic gave this team plenty of ways to think about their roadmap for 2014.

He started off with the three levels of businesses, prompting the team to think about their products via series of hands-on exercises. One thing you can be sure about Redbox Studio marketing workshops – it’s never boring. It’s always about intrigue and surprises. And because we’ve attended quite a number of workshops, we know that the participants must always be excited to learn, not nod off to sleep.

It’s also why we lined up a series of real marketing challenges for them. Since they were all from the same mother company (albeit 3 separate companies), they could learn about each other’s products and marketing strategies.
In every workshop that we conduct, the basic premise is: understanding what value is and how to give value to customers. Or in the words of the Don Corleone a.k.a The Godfather, “give them an offer they can’t refuse”.
Value is from the perspective of the customer.
Far too many businesses put themselves first. That is why their promotions, products and offers are all skewed to making mince meat out of their customers.

That’s why most people (yes, you and I included) are afraid to buy.
We’re thinking of the risks we’re taking.
We’re thinking, what if we don’t like the product?
We’re thinking, what happens after we buy the product?

Nic explained that you need to reassure your customers first by giving them such great value in every way while reducing their fears that they come back to you easily and freely and bring other friends to try your products.

Of course one of the best platforms for giving value is always a website. A website is the most effective and affordable marketing tool, only if the website is designed and developed for marketing. Part of our workshop involved Nic advising the client’s team especially their IT and website team how to tweak their own website for maximum clickability.

We can’t divulge much about what we imparted to them as it is personal and confidential but we can show you some photos of the “Journey to the Peak” workshop.

This event aside, you can also join us in our once-every-three months Marketing Mojo Meetup if you want to find out how to increase more customers and grow your business.

Next up is our upcoming Marketing Mojo Meetup – a free & easy 3-hour session of marketing know-how plus networking with other business owners which happens on 5 March (Wednesday). When you pay for all 4 dates of Marketing Mojo in advance, you get a sweet, sweet deal. More at this page.
