In conjunction with National Training Week this week, we hosted a Big Timer workshop titled Unlock Your Profit Potential yesterday and what an energising, eye-opening afternoon it turned out to be!
Held at the Penang Digital Library, the 3-hour workshop brought together a vibrant group of trainers and consultants who were eager to explore how to grow and manage their businesses more effectively. Instead of a conventional talk, we did something different: we put the participants together to play our game.
Big Timer isn’t your typical business simulation. It’s a card-based strategy game designed to help entrepreneurs, trainers, consultants and coaches understand how they manage their most limited resource – time, not money – to unlock more profit potential. Through play, participants make decisions, balance customers and goals, and experience real business trade-offs in an interactive, dynamic and adreline-pumping environment.
Realisations That Hit Home
As the game rounds progressed, the room lit up with insights, shared laughter and moments of deep reflection. Many of the participants realised:
- Every business has a maximum capacity. Trying to take on too much can hurt more than help.
- Not all customers are worth keeping—sometimes, you need to let go of the wrong ones.
- Customer quality is more important than quantity.
- Losing focus can derail your progress, no matter how good your intentions.
- Time is a resource we all have equally, yet we all use it very differently.
The most powerful takeaway? Our game often mirrors real-life business experiences. Some participants discovered they were time-strapped in the game—just like in their daily lives. Others realised they had time but weren’t using it wisely.
Trainers Connecting & Collaborating
Because the room was full of trainers and consultants, the networking was just as valuable as the gameplay. In fact, our Collaborate card—an essential move in the game—was mirrored by real connections being made in the room. Conversations sparked around potential partnerships and ways to support each other’s work.
One participant drove 400km from Klang to Penang just to attend. Another rescheduled three appointments to make sure she didn’t miss out. Their commitment spoke volumes.
What’s Next? Trainer Certification
By the end of the 3-hour workshop, we were getting questions like:
“Can I train others using Big Timer?”
“How do I incorporate this into my own training sessions?”
We’re thrilled to say that we are now preparing to open up limited slots for our Big Timer Trainer Certification Program. This is an opportunity for trainers, consultants, and coaches who want to add a powerful and practical tool to their toolkit.
