Remember we told you about Level Up, a networking event that we were co-hosting with Sri Shan Bid on 15 May? Well that date has come and gone and what with all our website development projects and own marketing events, we almost forgot to blog about this!

Think of Level Up as a networking event for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Or even a platform to learn new ideas.

And a way for us all to check out the hip and happening cafes mushrooming around George Town.
This event was free as we wanted as many people to attend and check it out for themselves. As it was from 7pm to 9pm, you could order your own meal or drink and join in the camaraderie.

So what happened at this first Level Up?
Well, Nic talked about how instead of passion, one could use anger as a starting point for a business. He shared the story of Walt Disney who dreamt of a cleaner and more pleasant amusement park in the 1950s and who was laughed at by most amusement park operators of his time.
Walt was frustrated at the dirt and noise of the amusement parks of his time and vowed to create a much better park. That’s how we have the “happiest place on earth” today in Disneyland – always clean, always fun and friendly!
(Speaking of which, I can vouch for its cleanliness as I was in Hong Kong Disneyland in early June. I never did see any trash as the Disney crew were seen picking up trash with their trash picker tools!)

Next Leik Hong who is a business coach presented on the business model canvas which gave participants something to think about – that there is a back-end and front-end to every business. Each section of the canvas is important to the success of any business.
We took a break for June as we were all supremely busy with our own businesses but we’re back again this month with a special guest speaker (well, you’ll just have to attend to find out who he is).
We aim to use Level Up as a platform to introduce new ideas, new technology and inspiring stories to people who want to level up, no matter what level they are at, now.

It’ll also allow us to check out new cafes in Georgetown (so if you run a cafe and want to host us, email us and let us know). Most times, we bring the business to the cafe as our guests will order drinks and food.
At the same time, we intend to introduce a special guest speaker each month to talk about his or her business or just share a story worth repeating. So this creates an absolute win-win for both the cafe and the speaker.
Anyway, here are some of the photos of our last Level Up event at Goh Kaki Cafe on Bishop Street.
