We just completed yet another FB Live session and today, I interviewed Usha Devi who is the Group Head HR & Transformation for Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare in Ara Damansara. You can watch it below (it’s already up on Youtube) or you can watch it on our FB page.
In this one-hour FB Live, we discussed how SME and business owners can leverage some of the HR practices that are used in larger organisations.

We got to know Usha through a friend and Usha came highly recommended as she has vast experience in the field of human resources.
As business owners, hiring good people is always on our minds. But the hiring process can be complex and sometimes we are not really sure we’ve done our best to hire the right people to do the jobs that need to get done.
Hiring the wrong person can be a disaster. But not hiring is also disastrous as we don’t have enough hands and brains to get the job done. (We’ve hired and fired enough people in our 22 years of running our business to know that it can be a frustrating process too!)
Usha’s experience in the corporate world gives us some insights on how larger corporations and businesses hire and retain good quality people on their teams. This is why we were excited to talk to her.
She has more than 20 years of work experience with local and multinational companies such as Texchem Corporation, LKT Group, Avery Dennison Materials, Nippon Sheet Glass and Goodyear Malaysia.
In her current role for Ramsay Sime Darby Heathcare, she is responsible for all aspects of people and work climate for Malaysia, Indonesia and Hong Kong. She was part of the country leadership team in spearheading people and business transformation in the organization. Usha has regional experience as she supported HR activities in Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.
A Kedahan at heart, with roots in Penang, Usha enjoys participating in runs (albeit at a slow jog). She currently loves to explore new dishes/food made by home or small entrepreneurs.
From July onwards, we will have a FB Live session every fortnight. So look out for us every other Thursday afternoon 4pm. We will try not to have it on a Saturday unless it is really necessary (or if our guest really can’t make it for a Thursday afternoon).
