Let’s face it.
We are big fans of this guy.
He speaks commonsense and logic and he has compiled 113 design guidelines for websites. This article is a must-read!
Many people think being creative is about doing things others don’t do. Being creative is doing what you want to do within the usual standards and conventions. It does not mean you do away with what’s universally acceptable and useful.
Some people come to us and say they want an outrageously creative website. They don’t want the regular stuff. They want to be creative and unique. For people like these, we tell them that they don’t need a website, they just need an artwork. Because we know for sure websites like these will not sell and will not produce a single enquiry even.
Our tried-and-tested proven method of creating websites which garner results isn’t something we learnt overnight. We’ve done this for the past 12 years. We’ve tweaked, we’ve tested, we’ve also made some mistakes along the way. But the most important thing is, we learn what NOT to do and we make it a point to improve. Improvements also mean that our clients get the results they want.
Anyway, we find Jakob Nielsen’s 113 design guidelines a very good reminder why we design the way we do.
If you want your customers to find you and contact you, ensure your website is designed for this purpose.
