Will You Help This Charity?

This is a quick appeal especially if you are a business owner.

St Nicholas Home for the Blind is organising a charity fundraiser event on 28 June this year called Walk For Sight at Padang Polo and they are appealing for sponsorship of prizes to make the event a success. (You can also join the walk at RM15 for adult and RM10 for child – all monies go to St Nicholas Home so that they can buy equipment for their low vision eye clinic and fund the cataract surgeries).

The walk is short but the best thing is – you are walking blindfolded so that we, the sighted people, can better understand what the blind go through daily.

If you can contribute prizes in any way, please email Joyce Yeoh [ JoyceYeoh@snh.org.my ]

Also please spread the word on your own blog so everyone can join, have fun, raise money and appreciate our gift of sight.

Here’s their appeal:

For the first time ever in Penang, St. Nicholas’ Home and the Region 1 Lions & Leos Clubs of District 308 B2, Malaysia and Majlis Sukan Negeri Pulau Pinang are co-organizing a Charity Walk to be held on Sunday, 28th June 2009. This Walk is not just any other Walk, but it is a 2.3km Walk where one is blindfolded and led by another!

We will be inviting MNCs, schools, colleges, hotels, sports bodies, MM2H association and many others to participate in this meaningful and fun event. To add grandeur to the Walk, lucky draw prizes will be given away to lucky participants at the end of the Walk.

Hence, on behalf of St. Nicholas’ Home, Penang, we appeal for the generosity of the public (organization, association, individuals, etc) to sponsor us some lucky draw prizes for the Event, ie.

  1. I have experienced being blindfolded in a game but walking blindfolded for a couple of mile and trusting completely where my companion leads me, that’s another thing but I find it rather challenging. I hope that a lot of business organization in your place will take part on your charity fund raising.

  2. Hi April: Yes, Nic and I will be taking part in this challenging walk. I hope my WomenBizSense ladies will take part too. Thinking of sponsoring some prizes for their lucky draw too. Thanks for reading our blog!
