December is always a good time to catch up with ourselves.
This December is no different. We’re happy that most of the urgent website development projects are wrapped up and delivered, and that we’re easing into our own projects for 2009 where we’ll be putting more energy into a new focus (which we’ll announce in due time). It’s time to feel excited as lots of good things are in store though a lot of hard work is involved (ah, when is it not hard work, ya?).
For the first time ever, we are taking part in this year’s StarWalk, organised by The Star newspaper. I believe our thrice weekly brisk walks around the Harapan/Aman lakes have prepared us for this 10km walk. Nic is skeptical though. He thinks I will complain of aches and pains the day after. We shall see!
Anyway, this post is about Twitter so let’s jump right into it.
I just got started with Twitter not too long ago. It can be useful or annoying, depending on how you look at it.
Positively though, Twitter, like blogging, like all other social media, is a tool to help you listen and participate in what’s happening in cyberspace. (Businesses can use it well, if they know how to use it properly.)
And say, if you do have a Twitter account and you’ve been tweeting for a while, you’re bound to feel that you ought to find some friends to follow. Otherwise it can get quite lonely tweeting by yourself. It’s like shouting in a cave.
You hear your own echo.
But that’s it.
The earth won’t move.
In order to be followed, you must first follow someone.
Same logic. If you want to find a friend, you must first befriend someone.
Good for friends you know but if you want to listen in on brands and companies, where do you go?
Here’s a long list of companies (some famous, some not so) which you can follow on Twitter. Just because you can follow them doesn’t always mean it’s always interesting but it’s a great way to learn how you can go wrong or right with tweets.
And like blogging, the tip is to join the conversation, not lurk and eavesdrop!
Ah yes, I am on Twitter. Follow me or let me be your follower! Get me at http://twitter.com/krista_redbox and I’ll follow you too!
